Figure 2. The above plot shows the most recent temperature data
for the last two months. Diurnal temperature variation is illustrated by
the outer wall temperature rising during a clear day, when the sun is heating
up the wall. At night the outer wall temperature falls as outside air temperatures
drop below the controlled temperature in the building.
Figure 1
shows a 7-day plot of the same data and helps illustrate the diurnal temperature changes
and the lag-time in temperature change through the wall section. Changes in local weather
conditions can be seen at this scale.
